‘Jaya Janaki Nayaka’ Review And Rating

Boyapati Srinivas appears to have undertaken this project with the sole purpose of giving a boost to the career of Bellamkonda Srinivas. He managed to rope in a good star cast to support the hero. Let us see if the intended purpose has been achieved or not.

Gagan (Bellamkonda Srinivas) is a very rich kid living happily with his family. He meets Sweety (Rakul Preeth Singh) who is taken in by his simple nature despite being so rich and falls head over heels in love with him. The hero too reciprocates. As their love blossoms suddenly the heroine disappears from his life. She simply departs with her father to the utter consternation of the hero. What circumstances forced her to leave so suddenly; will he succeed in clearing the air and winning his lady love back; what is the fate that awaits the lovers; these are the questions that the film answers.

Boyapati Srinu has made a love story without compromising on commercial elements that are his trade mark. However, the biggerst drawback is that there is no comedy at all. However, other elements are in full view, fights, dances et al, which are bound to attract the mass audiences. However, the director has chosen a time tested story line which has nothing new to offer. Neither does the narration have anything new to offer. While the interval episode is very good, one cannot say the same about the climax scene.

Performance of the stars:
Rakul Preeth Singh looks extremely beautiful and performs brilliantly. The whole story revolves around her character and she carried it off well on her dainty shoulders. Bellamkonda Srinivas has certainly improved as an actor. He dances and fights much better than he did in the past. Jagapati Babu’s character has been very powerfully designed and the actor has done a brilliant job of it. Pragya Jaiswal’s glamour show is bound to go well with the front benchers and the youngsters.

Technical Performance:
Music by Devi Sri Prasad is good. The background score given by him is adequate and serves to elevate the drama and emotional content in some scenes. Editing is just about adequate. But some scenes ought to have been cut off since they do not carry the story forward. Cinematography is brilliant and showcases the opulent life style of the hero very clearly. Some of the action scenes are choreographed very well. The director has done a fairly good job of giving us a time tested story line imbuing it with all commercial elements except comedy. However, some characters were not well defined – Vani Vishwanath’s character for instance. The item song just before the climax has not been filmed well.

Final Word:
“Jaya Janaki Nayaka” is a love story made with the specific purpose of pleasing the mass audiences.
“Jaya Janaki Nayaka” is rated 3/5
