Speaking to some leading daily publications recently, the ‘Ulaganayagan” Kamal Hassan, expressed his opinion about the success of “Baahubali – The Conclusion”. While his comments were not utterly disparaging they were not eulogies of the film either.
Speaking to one leading English daily Kamal Hassan said that financially “Baahubali” was the best thing to happen to the Indian film industry. He was quoted as having said that the team had worked very hard for it and deserved the success. The film proved that India had great stories to tell and that the film was definitely a step forward. However, he cautioned that we should stop short of comparing it with Hollywood films.
Speaking to a leading Tamil publication he said that “Baahubali” was a rehash of ‘Mahabaratha’ and a popular Tamil TV Fantasy series ‘Ambuli Mama’. When asked if the success of “Baahubali – The Conclusion” put pressure on him to take a film on that scale he denied that there was any such pressure. To quote him: “That’s the exact route sheep would take – go with the herd. I’m no sheep. I’m not the shepherd too. I am a different animal.”
