Sreenu Vaitla’s latest offering “Mister” is on its final throes. The film is likely to be removed off the theatres after a week’s run. The film was released with a lot of fanfare and amid great expectations. But it has proved to be the biggest disaster this season.
The director promised a refreshingly different screenplay. But that was not to be. What he gave the audiences instead was a very tiring ordeal. As a result right from the first day the film started garnering negative talk among audiences. It had a very poor first weekend and thereafter the weekdays are disastrous. The chances are that the film will not even sit through a second week screening. The cinema halls are likely to take it off immediately after the first week is done with.
The film’s global theatrical rights were sold for Rs.22 crores. As of now the estimate is that when the film finally goes off the cinema halls it is likely to end up collecting Rs.10 crores globally. That leaves a loss of more than 50% to the distributors and makers.
